Touring Sep/Oct 2015 – Glasgow, Cumbernauld, London, Dundee, Inverness, Edinburgh
The Bridge is a compelling and inspiring piece of visual theatre, which tells a remarkable story of the short life and lost work of PM John, a poet and author from Kerala India, living in the days running up to Independence from the British in 1947. His story is interwoven with that of his family, their struggles, and journeys they took across continents to new lives and opportunities.
Travelling back from present day Scotland, The Bridge evokes our fascination with hidden family histories, touching on how language and culture informs our identity and the importance of telling stories.
Originally commissioned as part of the Glasgow 2014 Cultural programme, The Bridge is a poetic, poignant play about personal and political independence, which considers who ‘we’ are, what home means, and how we can live forever.
Written and performed by Annie George
Director Sarah MacDonald, Composer – Niroshini Thambar, Design – Alice Wilson
